Technical helpful tips for your
Big Dish
Having Trouble
with your Big Dish?
Most
satellite problems are very minor ones. Something as simple as
unplugging your system may be the solution to your problem. We have put
descriptions to common problems below. If you have a problem with your
system that is not indicated below or you feel should be added in,
please feel free to e-mail us at inquiry@dishsupplies.com.
Common Issues:
- Remapping: On model 922
4DTV's, you can remap a channel by doing a soft reset , and then a
rehit on G1-03 or G5-100 if you have a green DC light. We generally do
not recommend a soft reset on a Model 920 unit.
- Soft reset: On a 4DTV
922, Turn the power off to the receiver, Unplug it from the wall for 30
seconds. Plug the receiver back in, turn the power on. After it has
gone through the warm up place your system on G1-03 or G5-100 (please
make sure that your green DC light is on) You will then need a rehit at
this point. It is not recommended on the 920 recievers.

error, or no return pulse"? Check

- Are you getting tiling or
color break up on your
digital channels? When tiling, or digital break-up appears on a digital
channel with the 4DTV, your signal is not strong enough. Please follow
the steps in the tuning section to correct this.
Generally you will need a quality of at least 30 to lock in the
picture. If you follow the tuning steps and still cannot bring in a
picture without tiling/break-up, you may need to consult technical
support.
Tuning: When tuning in a 4DTV receiver start with an analog
channel you are subscribed to or a channel that is in the clear on that
particular satellite. There are two main adjustments to make: dish
position (moving your dish alignment east and west) and skew/polarity.
Note that some receivers and dish configurations may require additional
set up or be placed in a programming mode to accomplish proper
programming reception. Whenever programming your receiver, it is
recommened that you use your receiver's owners manual, or contact your
local satellite dealer.
- Can't find your IPG Guide? The IPG
updates nightly with your 4DTV system. If your G1
satellite is not well tuned, your guide information will not download,
and when you press guide you’ll see a “no info” message. If you have
that message you will need to first make sure that G1 is tuned in
correctly and that you get a green “DC” light on the front of your
receiver while on G1-3. Once you have tuned G1 to obtain the green
light on channel 3, you just need to press the Guide button on your
remote. It will then pull up the guide on your screen and you will see
a message, “Please wait a moment, we are processing your request…” This
indicates that the IPG is downloading. In a few moments you will have
the program guide again.
